For safety reasons and in order to participate in PE classes, students will wear closed-toed shoes without a high heel at all times. No slippers, flip flops, or slides.

The OUSD Dress Code Policy prohibits the following for students:

  • Wearing clothing, jewelry, or accessories which promote drug or alcohol use, violence, profanity, bigotry, hatred or intolerance.
  • Sleepwear (unless it’s spirit week)

Neither OUSD nor Frick United Academy of Language are responsible for students' personal property and belongings, and therefore students are advised NOT to bring expensive jewelry, clothing or other personal items to school.

Cell Phone Policy

To create an academic culture that ensures students receive high quality teaching and learning experiences, an atmosphere conducive to focused activities will be provided. Cell phones are a distraction to students and teachers/staff during school hours and school related activities. Cell phones can be a detriment in the event of a building emergency and our protocol to manage such emergencies in a safe manner.

Parents/guardians please call the school phone at (510) 879-3219 should you need to communicate with your student during the school day or relay any urgent messages to your child.

No student will be allowed to possess or use a cell phone on campus during the hours of 8:00am to 3:30pm. Cell phones must be off and/or silenced and secured out of sight at the start of each school day, as per parent contract. OUSD and Frick United Academy of Language are not responsible for any damaged, lost, or stolen property, including cell phones.

If a student’s cell phone is seen or heard by any staff members, the following steps will occur:

  1. First Infraction Phone will be confiscated and locked up in a secure lockbox in the main office. Parent/guardian may pick up at the end of the school day.

  3. Third Infraction Phone will be confiscated and locked up. Parent/guardian may pick up at the end of the month
